How to Play 7 Up 7 Down — Step by Step for First-Timers

You have never bet on dice before. You have heard of 7 Up 7 Down from a friend, a Telegram group, or an ad on YouTube. You want to actually sit at a table and bet without losing money because you did not know what you were doing. This is the straight-line walkthrough from "signed up" to "first winning round" without the fluff.

What you need before you can play

Three things, nothing more. Get these ready before you open a table.

  1. A working 7 Up 7 Down ID. That is your account on a live-dealer platform. On Funinexchange it is created over WhatsApp in under 5 minutes. Full flow is on our register page. Have your mobile number and a UPI ID ready when you message support.
  2. A funded wallet. Minimum first deposit on Funinexchange is ₹500 by UPI. That is enough for 50 rounds at the ₹10 minimum bet, which is plenty for a first learning session. Deposit arrives in the wallet in under 15 minutes, usually under 60 seconds on UPI.
  3. A reliable connection. You are watching a live video feed. 4G is fine for 480p, Wi-Fi is better. Pack 100MB of data for a 60-minute session. If the stream buffers more than once, close the tab and come back on a stronger signal.

You do not need a laptop. The whole flow works on a mobile browser or the Android APK. Our app page explains both.

Step 1 — Open the live 7 Up 7 Down table

Log in to Funinexchange, go to the Live Casino lobby, and find the 7 Up 7 Down tables. There are usually 12 of them active across Pragmatic Live, Ezugi, and Evolution. The one you want is labelled 7 Up 7 Down Premium on Pragmatic Live. It is the one that pays 5:1 on Exact 7 instead of the standard 4:1. The lobby thumbnail shows the current round number and dealer name. If you see a dealer named Priya, Arjun, Kavya, Rohan or Neha, you are on the right studio.

Tap the thumbnail. The live stream loads in 2 to 3 seconds. You will see the dealer on camera, a dice tumbler on the felt, and the betting board below the video.

Step 2 — Read the betting board

The board is simpler than any card game. There are three big zones that cover 95% of what you will bet on.

ZonePositionWhat you win on
7 DownLeftDice total of 2, 3, 4, 5, or 6
Exact 7Centre (highlighted)Dice total of exactly 7
7 UpRightDice total of 8, 9, 10, 11, or 12

Below those three main zones you will see a thinner row with side bets: Even, Odd, Doubles, and sometimes a Sum-of-Two grid for specific totals. Ignore the side bets for your first session. Focus on the big three.

In the bottom-left of the board you will see your chip tray with chip denominations: ₹10, ₹25, ₹100, ₹500, and so on. You tap a chip to select it, then tap a bet zone to place that amount on it. Simple.

Step 3 — Place your first bet

The dealer announces "place your bets" at the start of every round. A countdown timer appears on screen, usually 10 seconds. Here is what to do in that window.

  1. Decide which zone you are backing. For a first bet, pick 7 Down or 7 Up. Not Exact 7. The two outside zones each give you a 41.67% win rate at 1:1, which is a 2-in-5 chance of doubling your money on round one. Exact 7 is more fun but you only win 1 in 6 rounds, which is a brutal introduction to the game.
  2. Select a ₹10 chip from the tray.
  3. Tap the 7 Down or 7 Up zone. The chip appears on the zone with the amount next to it. If you want to bet ₹20, tap the zone twice. For ₹50, tap five times.
  4. Wait for the "no more bets" call. You can still remove or adjust the bet until that call lands.

Do not bet on both 7 Down and 7 Up at the same time. Some people think this gives them a safe return. It does not. When the dice land on 7 (which happens 16.67% of the time), both bets lose. That is a 16.67% tax on every single round. Pick one side per round.

A sensible first-session bet pattern. ₹10 on 7 Down or 7 Up every round for 20 rounds. That costs ₹200 of exposure. On average you win 8 or 9 of those 20 rounds (at 41.67% win rate) and lose 11 or 12. Net result after 20 rounds, at the base ₹10 stake and 1:1 payout, lands roughly between -₹40 and +₹40 for most sessions. That is enough variance to feel the game without serious bankroll damage.

Step 4 — Watch the roll

Once bets lock, the dealer picks up the tumbler and shakes it on camera for about 4 seconds. The dice rattle audibly through the dealer's microphone. The tumbler comes down on the felt. The dealer lifts it. Both dice are face-up.

The dealer calls the total in English and in Hindi on bilingual tables. The board automatically highlights the winning zone in green. If you bet 7 Down and the dice totalled 5, the 7 Down zone glows green and your winnings credit to your wallet instantly. If the total was 9, the 7 Up zone glows green and your 7 Down bet is lost.

Your balance updates in the top corner of the screen. The next round opens 2 seconds after the result. You have 10 seconds to decide your next bet.

Step 5 — Understand the payout

Three payouts matter for the main bets. Memorise this once and you never need to look at it again.

BetPayout₹100 wins you
7 Down1:1₹100 profit + your ₹100 back = ₹200 total
7 Up1:1₹100 profit + your ₹100 back = ₹200 total
Exact 75:1 on Pragmatic Premium (4:1 elsewhere)₹500 profit + your ₹100 back = ₹600 total (or ₹500 total at 4:1)

So on a ₹10 bet, 7 Down and 7 Up each pay ₹10 profit. Exact 7 pays ₹50 profit on Funinexchange's Pragmatic Premium table. On other platforms Exact 7 pays ₹40 profit, which looks nearly the same on paper but costs you about ₹16,700 in expected value every ₹100,000 you bet on Exact 7. Pick the right table and the right bet. Full math is on our rules post.

Common first-timer confusion

"The dealer called 10 but my 7 Up bet lost?"

Check what you actually bet on. 7 Up pays if the total is 8 to 12. 10 is in that range. If the bet still shows lost, you may have placed on Even by mistake (10 is even, but if you bet Odd, you lose). Zoom in on the chip placement before the next round. The betting zones can be close together on small screens.

"I keep losing on Exact 7"

Expected. Exact 7 is a 1-in-6 bet. You will lose five rounds in a row more often than you think. If your bankroll is small, do not sit at the Exact 7 bet every round. Mix in 7 Down or 7 Up to extend session length.

"The video feed is lagging"

Close the tab and reopen. If it keeps lagging, switch between mobile data and Wi-Fi. If the problem continues, try a different 7 Up 7 Down table on the same platform. The Pragmatic Premium room runs on dedicated infrastructure and rarely stutters; Ezugi and Evolution rooms can be shakier at peak hours (9 PM to midnight IST).

"My bet did not place in time"

The betting window closes when the dealer calls "no more bets". If your tap landed after that call, the system rejects the chip and refunds the amount. Your balance is unchanged. Just place the bet earlier next round. The window is 10 full seconds; aim to click within the first 7.

"How do I withdraw my winnings?"

Open your account menu, tap Withdraw, enter the amount (minimum ₹500), and confirm. Winnings arrive to your registered UPI or bank inside 15 minutes during business hours. UPI is fastest, median 8 minutes in our tests. See the full review for withdrawal time data from 32 test withdrawals.

Smart defaults for your first session

If you remember nothing else from this guide, remember these five rules.

  1. Session bankroll: ₹500 to ₹1,000. Deposit that much and no more. When it is gone, walk away for the day.
  2. Base stake: ₹10. Not ₹100. Not ₹25. You are learning the mechanics, not betting serious money.
  3. Pick 7 Down OR 7 Up each round. Not both. Not Exact 7 for round one. Build confidence with 1:1 bets first.
  4. Watch 3 rounds before betting. Confirm the stream is stable, the dealer calls are clear, and the betting window timing is predictable before you place a chip.
  5. Stop at either +50% or -50% of your bankroll. If you deposited ₹500 and you are at ₹750, cash out ₹250 and keep ₹500 to play with. If you are at ₹250, close the tab and come back another day.

Also helpful: do not play when tired, drunk, or emotional. The 18-second round tempo means you make 200 betting decisions per hour. Mental fatigue is real after 90 minutes. Take a break.

What to do after your first session

You have played 20 to 50 rounds. You understand the betting board, the timing, and the payouts. The next things worth reading, in order:

  • Full rules post for the complete payout chart with house edge for every bet type.
  • Strategy guide for how to think about bankroll sizing across multiple sessions.
  • Variants page for the Speed and Doubles-only tables once you want faster rounds or different side-bet focus.
  • Bonus page for the 4% every-deposit bonus and 10% weekly loss-back, both of which reduce your effective house edge over time.
