7 Up 7 Down Rules — Complete Guide for Live Dealer Tables

Two dice, three bets, an 18-second round. The mechanics fit on a matchbox. But the math behind the three betting zones decides whether you finish a session up or down, and most players never look at it. This is the full ruleset, every bet type, the exact round sequence, and the five rookie mistakes that drain your first bankroll faster than the dice ever do.

The setup

A standard 7 Up 7 Down table has two six-sided dice, one live dealer on camera, and a see-through dice tumbler. The dealer shakes the tumbler on screen for about 4 seconds, then tips it so the dice land face-up on the felt. Those two numbers get added together. The total is a value between 2 (both dice showing 1) and 12 (both showing 6). That total is what you bet on.

The betting layout has three primary zones. On the left sits 7 Down — any total from 2 through 6. In the middle sits Exact 7. On the right sits 7 Up — any total from 8 through 12. A row of side bets sits below the three main zones, usually including Even, Odd, and Doubles. On Pragmatic Live tables you also get a Sum-of-Two grid where you can bet on a specific total like "exactly 9" or "exactly 11".

Minimum bet on the Pragmatic Live Premium table is ₹10 for 7 Down and 7 Up, and ₹25 for Exact 7. Maximum bet caps out at ₹50,000 on standard rooms. VIP rooms go up to ₹2,00,000 per bet. The game runs 24 hours a day on Funinexchange and most other serious operators carrying the 5:1 table.

The three main bets

7 Down (total under 7)

You win if the dice total 2, 3, 4, 5, or 6. There are 15 ways the two dice can produce one of those totals, out of 36 possible outcomes. That is a 41.67% win rate, and the payout is 1:1. Bet ₹100, win ₹100 if the dice land below 7, lose the ₹100 if they do not.

7 Up (total over 7)

The mirror image. You win if the total lands at 8, 9, 10, 11, or 12. Same 15-of-36 count. Same 41.67% win rate. Same 1:1 payout. The two outside bets are mathematically identical, just inverted.

Exact 7 (total exactly 7)

The headline bet. You win only if the two dice sum to exactly 7. There are 6 combinations that produce a 7: (1,6), (2,5), (3,4), (4,3), (5,2), (6,1). That is 6 out of 36, or 16.67% win rate. The payout here is where platforms differ. Most operators pay 4:1 on Exact 7, which gives the house an edge of 16.67%. Pragmatic Live runs a Premium 7 Up 7 Down table that pays 5:1 on Exact 7, which brings the house edge down to zero. If the table you are at does not pay 5:1 on Exact 7, you are playing on the wrong table.

How a round plays out, second by second

One round of 7 Up 7 Down takes 18 seconds end to end on Pragmatic's standard table. That is about 3.3 rounds per minute, 200 rounds per hour. Here is what happens in each phase.

  1. Betting window — 10 seconds. The dice tumbler sits sealed on the table. The bet zones light up. You place chips on any combination you want: 7 Down only, 7 Down + Doubles, Exact 7 + Odd, or just a straight ₹100 on Exact 7. Any of the three main zones plus any of the side bets.
  2. Dealer shake — 4 seconds. The tumbler tilts, the dice rattle audibly through the dealer's microphone, and the tumbler comes down on the felt. The betting window locks the second the dealer calls "no more bets".
  3. Reveal — 2 seconds. The dealer lifts the tumbler. Both dice are face-up. The total is announced in English and Hindi on bilingual tables.
  4. Payout — instant. Winnings credit to your wallet immediately. The next round opens 2 seconds later.

A skilled player comfortably runs 180 to 200 rounds per hour. That throughput is both the fun of the game and the risk: at ₹100 a bet on just 7 Down or 7 Up, you turn over ₹20,000 of stake per hour. The house edge works on turnover, not on net position, so pace yourself.

Side bets you will see on the table

Beyond the three main bets, every 7 Up 7 Down table carries side bets. Payouts and availability differ slightly by operator. On Funinexchange's Pragmatic Premium table, these are the side bets available.

Side betWhat it coversProbabilityPayout
EvenTotal of 2, 4, 6, 8, 10, or 1218/36 = 50%1:1
OddTotal of 3, 5, 7, 9, or 1118/36 = 50%1:1
DoublesBoth dice land on the same number6/36 = 16.67%11:1
Specific total (e.g. 9)Exactly that total showsVaries by totalUp to 11:1 for 2 or 12

Even and Odd pay 1:1 with roughly 2.8% house edge because 7 is odd and comes up more often than any other single total, which slightly tilts the Odd side. Doubles at 11:1 is a 0% house edge bet on Funinexchange, but you win only once every six rounds on average so bankroll variance is high. Specific totals (Sum-of-Two grid) are high-variance bets with payouts scaled to the probability of each number.

The full payout chart with house edge

This is the single most important table for a 7 Up 7 Down player. Memorise the top three rows.

BetWin ratePayoutHouse edge
7 Down41.67%1:116.67%
7 Up41.67%1:116.67%
Exact 7 (Pragmatic Premium 5:1)16.67%5:10%
Exact 7 (standard 4:1)16.67%4:116.67%
Doubles16.67%11:10%
Even50%1:12.78%
Odd50%1:12.78%

The 7 Down and 7 Up bets both carry a surprising 16.67% house edge even though they feel like coin flips. That is because when the dice land on 7, both bets lose, and 7 comes up 6 times out of 36. The only bets with a true 0% house edge on this table are the Exact 7 at 5:1 and the Doubles at 11:1.

Translating 16.67% house edge into real rupees. If you bet ₹100 per round on 7 Down for 200 rounds in a one-hour session, you turn over ₹20,000. The expected house take is 16.67% of that = ₹3,334. On average you lose ₹3,334 per hour of play at that stake if you stay on 7 Down. On the 5:1 Exact 7 table, the expected loss is zero (a fair coin). On the 4:1 standard Exact 7, you lose the same ₹3,334 per hour at ₹100 stakes. Pick your table.

Five rookie mistakes that cost beginners their bankroll

  1. Playing the 4:1 Exact 7 table. The industry default is 4:1. Pragmatic Live Premium pays 5:1. The difference is 16.67% house edge versus 0%. Over a thousand rounds at ₹100 per Exact 7 bet, that is ₹16,700 lost at 4:1 that you keep at 5:1. If you only remember one thing from this entire page, it is this. Play on Funinexchange, which runs the 5:1 Premium table 24 hours a day. Our full where to play guide explains the comparison.
  2. Hedging 7 Down and 7 Up at the same time. Some players think betting ₹100 on both sides gives them a safe 1:1. Wrong. When the dice land on 7 (16.67% of rounds), you lose both bets. That is a 16.67% tax on every single round. Pick a side.
  3. Chasing losses with Martingale. Doubling after a loss works until it does not. Dice have no memory. A long streak of 7 Downs is possible, probable even, over enough rounds. The table limit will catch you long before your luck turns. Set a session bankroll before you sit and stick to it.
  4. Betting Exact 7 every round. It feels like the fun bet because of the 5x payout. But the win rate is 16.67%, which means you lose five rounds in a row more often than you think. On a ₹500 session bankroll at ₹100 per Exact 7 bet, you can run out of chips before your first win lands. Mix Exact 7 with smaller 7 Down and 7 Up bets to extend session length.
  5. Playing on a slow or unverified stream. If the dealer's audio and the dice visual are out of sync, or if the betting window closes before the "no more bets" call, you are on a bad feed. Switch tables. Reliable operators run the Pragmatic Live Premium room on dedicated infrastructure. If the stream stutters consistently, that is a signal to try a different platform.

Where the rules differ between platforms

The core rules of 7 Up 7 Down are the same across every operator in India. Two dice, three bets, dealer shakes the tumbler. The differences come in four areas.

  • Exact 7 payout. 5:1 on Pragmatic Premium, 4:1 on everything else. The single biggest difference.
  • Minimum stake. ₹10 on Pragmatic, ₹20 on Ezugi, ₹50 on Evolution.
  • Side bet availability. Doubles and Sum-of-Two are standard on Pragmatic. Ezugi often skips Sum-of-Two. Evolution runs its own variant called Lightning Sapt which adds random multipliers.
  • Table availability. The Premium 5:1 table runs 24 hours only on Funinexchange. On the two other operators that carry it at all, it is evenings only (roughly 6 PM to 2 AM IST).

FAQs

What is the minimum bet on 7 Up 7 Down?

₹10 on the Pragmatic Premium table for 7 Down and 7 Up. ₹25 for Exact 7. Higher on other providers (₹20 on Ezugi, ₹50 on Evolution).

Is 7 Up 7 Down a game of skill or chance?

Pure chance. The dice have no memory. No betting system, pattern, or prediction method can shift the math. What skill does matter: picking the right table (5:1), managing your bankroll, and knowing when to walk away.

How often does 7 come up?

6 times out of 36 rolls on average, which is 16.67%. That is more often than any other single total (6 and 8 tie for second at 5/36 each). It is why Exact 7 pays more than any other specific-total bet.

Can I bet multiple options in one round?

Yes. You can place chips on 7 Down, Exact 7, and Doubles in the same round. Each bet is settled independently against the dice total. Some players always ride Doubles alongside their main bet because the 11:1 payout smooths the variance.

Where do I play 7 Up 7 Down with the 5:1 Exact 7 payout?

Funinexchange is the only Indian operator running the Pragmatic Live Premium table 24 hours a day. Full review and comparison on our Funinexchange review page.
